Vaastu interior design is based on the principles of Vastu Shastra, which is an ancient Indian science of architecture and design that aims to create harmony between nature and one’s living space. Vastu Shastra considers the five basic elements of nature—water, fire, earth, space and air—and the directions associated with them. It also provides guidelines for the placement of furniture, paintings, mirrors, plants, curtains, ceilings and other objects in different rooms of the house. Here are some basic Vastu tips for interior design that you can use for your website content:

For bedrooms, the bed should be positioned at least 3 inches away from the wall and should not face the entrance of the room. The bed should also be in a rectangular shape and should face the southwest direction. The wardrobe or any cabinet containing valuables should face the south wall facing north. The curtains should be bright coloured and hanged on the south or west windows
For doors and windows, they should be placed in the north or east directions of a room and should not be opposite to a bed or a study table. They should also be in even numbers and open inside
For children’s rooms, the study table should face the north or east direction and should not have any overhead cabinets above it. A touch of yellow colour in the children’s bedroom is good for their healthy growth
For kitchens, the fridge should be placed in the southwest corner of the kitchen, while the rice cooker, toaster and other electrical items should be placed in the southeast. The cooking gas and the water sink should be as far away from each other as possible. The dining table should face the northwest direction of the kitchen, living room or the dining room2
For paintings and statues, they should depict nature scenes like waterfalls, sunrise, mountains etc. and avoid war scenes or any form of violence. Idols of gods and goddesses should have a proper place in the pooja room with accurate location. Heavy statues should not be placed in the northeast corner of a room or house
For ceilings, they should be flat rather than elevated or false and have a suitable distance between floor and ceiling
